Alice Cattaneo (Milan, 1976) returns to Milan after a season of several important exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

In her work, the artist considers space as a kind of ready made that determines all her subsequent interventions. Space is approached on a physical level and its emptiness is embedded in the content of the artwork. For this exhibition she has conceived a large installation that interacts dynamically with the features of the gallery. The artist resumes her investigation starting from materials that are new to her, such as aluminium rods, strips of plastic and fluorescent nylon, driven to their extreme limits. Her compositional configurations are an attempt, standing in between calculation and unpredictability, to hold the instability in time and space. The viewer is offered an impression of witnessing the final act of a performance happened behind closed doors.

The space is explored also in the artist's videos, where small and essential gestures create concise compositional rebuses.
