Suzy Shammah Gallery presents the third solo exhibition of Alice Cattaneo (Milan, 1976). The artist always develops her works by means of a performative attitude: she engages on a dialogue in the exhibition space with the chosen material, by using a trials and errors procedure, out of which the final structure gains its outlook always referring to a feeling of lightness.

For this exhibition the artist has designed an imaginary architecture within the gallery space made of metal geometric shapes and plastic nets. Iron and cardboard structures, laying on the ground, are combined with elements contrasting in colors and materials to outline sculptures in equilibrium in the space and in symmetrical relationship to each other. The presence of similar forms in different combinations gives the impression of a specular and overturned world. Thin black plastic nets, overlapping each other, in connection with the metal sculptures on the ground, suggest absence of gravity and instability of the shape.

A video projected as a tiny image on the wall discloses the creative process: Alice Cattaneo moves in the frame carrying materials that develop into the final sculpture. The sculpture itself is finally filmed creating a loop with the viewer's experience.
